Paper Flowers - Tutorial

~~~~~
Here is a tutorial for how I make my punched paper flowers. For the larger flower I used the EK Success flower punch for the larger flower and the smaller flower is punched with a tiny flower punch that I got in a local craft shop and that I unfortunately don't know the brand name of. You will also need an embossing tool with one larger and one smaller tip and a soft embossing mat.
First I punched an even number of each flower size from cardstock (several of each since it is quick to make a few in one go). I then dipped them quickly into water to make them slightly moist. it's important not to get them too moist because then you can't shape them and they will fall apart. 2-3 seconds should be enough. If the paper is really thin, just dip down and up straight away.
Then lay the flower on a soft embossing mat. I use an old piece of hard-ish foam that some brads once were attached to. Even a computer mouse mat works.
You will need two punched flowers for each finished flower.
For the first flower, take the larger sized end of the embossing tool and press the flower petals down to make them bowl shaped. The more you push and work the petals the more wrinkles and character the flower will get. Leave the middle flat.
Then turn the flower around and press only the middle. This is the first of the two flowers done. I will call this the 'flat' part since it's more flat than the other flower. This is the up side (as shown on the picture)
For the second flower, follow the first step for the first flower but don't turn it around. This makes the flower into a little bowl, the 'bowl' part.
Attach the 'bowl' part to the 'flat' part (the up side) and the flower is complete.
Thank you for stopping by! Please don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions :)
