This is a mini album that I made for my mum and dad. It's a family album with photos from all our family birthdays, dinners, holidays and other gatherings between 2006-2012. There were so many photos to go through to choose the very best. On the back of most photo tags I wrote either a little note about the occasion or a poem; my own or a well-known poet's. I mainly used the Basic Grey Curio paper collection and I tried to make each page have it's own colour theme to have a bit of variation throughout the album. For the cover I used the cover of an old calendar that I got free from a supermarket. It was thick and already folded nicely in the middle, just perfect as a cover since I didn't have to make a separate binding.
For the cover I decided to go with a turquoise/blue theme. The swirls are grunge board pieces that I first coloured with distress ink and then heat embossed with clear embossing powder. The golden button in the middle on the right side is for the closure.
The white flowers I made from synthetic fabric that I cut in to circles, melted the edges, layered them and placed a pearl in the centre. I made a stick pin to place behind the white flowers.
I also punched beige flowers, sprayed them with golden glimmer spray, crunched them up and layered them to make dimensional flowers. I layered the stamped family tag on to some turquoise feathers. I also placed some feathers behind the bunch of flowers in the left corner.
The big butterfly tag is from the Graphic 45 Steampunk Debutante collection. I added some glossy accent to it to make it stand out.

The album got quite chunky with all the embellishments and photo tags but I could still close it using an elastic black string that kept it nicely together.

For the first two pages I used a brown/yellow/pink colour theme.
The pink flowers are from old candle decorations that I dismantled. The yellow crocheted flowers my mum made for me so I thought it was nice to use them for the album. I made the small yellow roses with polymer clay and a rose mould. I also made a little stick pin with a golden butterfly, some pearls and a glass flower at the top. Unfortunately I cannot remember where the angel tag is from.

For the next pages I wanted to make the pink flowers on the paper stand out so I thought to use pink embellishments for this page. I made a pocket with a piece of white lace that I coloured with pink glimmer mist and added a pink ribbon. I also made a pocket book to go inside the pocket and filled it with photo tags. The pink flowers are from old candle decorations and I used one of my polymer clay roses as a centre.
On the right side I made a fold out to hold a photo.

On the next two pages I mixed warm colours. The white flowers are hand made fabric flowers with wrinkled paper rose centres. I cut out a butterfly from a decoupage sheet and added some glossy accent to it.
I had some chipboard corners that I covered with patterned paper. I made a fold out to hold photos and I attached it so that I could slip in a tag behind. The fold out is held in place with a heart paper clip is from Paperchase.

This page was the first page that I finished. I always find it so easy to work with pink colours, it just inspires me somehow.

On the left page I made a pocket with a piece of paper from the paper collection that I punched with the Martha Stewart corner punch 'Bubble Bath'. I also made a wallet to slip in the pocket that folds out holding lots of photos to go inside the pocket.
The edge of the wallet is punched with the Martha Stewart Heart border punch. The tassle is from an old table cloth that I cut up.
The wallet folded out.

On the next two pages I wanted to emphasise the red and orange colours in the paper. On the left page I made a little pocket using glittered heart paper and decorated it with red feathers, paper flowers and an orange Petaloo Velvet Butterfly.

I made the pink fabric flowers with layered fabrics and the smaller pink paper flower using punched layered paper flowers.

On the right page I made an envelope pocket book that fold out holding lots of photo tags. I used velcro to hold the book pages together and a red bead as a knob to open it.

On this page I tried to bring out the turquoise and red colours in the paper. The turquoise flowers are a handmade fabric flower. On the left side I used a brown coin envelope to make two pockets; one behind the envelope and one in the envelope opening. On the right side I made an accordian foldout using coin envelopes to hold several photos.
I made the dragon fly using a dragon fly paper punch on white paper. I then coloured it and heat embossed it several times with clear embossing powder to make it thick. I put two flat backs as eyes and a row of flatbacks as the body.
I made the flowers using layers of punched paper flowers that I coloured with glimmer mist and wrinkled and layered to give them dimension.

I covered the coin envelope pocket on the left side with a piece of paper that I die cut with Spellbinders Shapeabilities - Fancy Tags Two.
I stamped the heart in the middle and covered it with Glossy Accent.
I made a pink stick pin to go behind the flowers.
The brad is from Papermania 'brad making' with a die cut from Graphic 45 placed in it. I added a piece of pink ribbon behind the brad.
The fairy tag is from a Graphic 45 collection.
